Aspect-iCoper-CEN/ISSS WSLT joint workshop on publish interoperability
Submitted by Chris Jenkins on Wed, 04/02/2009 - 14:27
The CEN/ISSS Workshop on Learning Technologies has initiated work on standardising a Simple Publishing Interface for Learning Object Repositories.
The objective is to develop a practical approach towards interoperability between repositories for learning and applications that consume or produce educational materials. Examples of repositories for learning are educational brokers, knowledge pools, institutional repositories, streaming video servers, etc.
Initial agenda topics include
- reports on publishing interoperability experiments
- discussions of how the SPI work relates to other publishing projects e.g. SWORD, APP, PENS, SRU Update, OAI-ORE,...
- next steps and collaboration
Nature: During the event, the focus will be on short presentations, demonstrations, comparisons with related work, discussion and active interaction with the audience. It is our hope to enable a discussion about the factors that are critical for having publish interoperability between tools that produce educational resources and places where resources can be ingested.
